Celebration of Women // Tessa Goldberger

  • In honour of International Women’s Day, we’re highlighting our incredible female instructors and managers who inspire us in and outside of the spin room.

We sat down with Tessa Goldberger, one of our remarkable Icon instructors & Master of Occupational Therapy student at UBC.

What do you love most about yourself

I love my drive and determination. Sometimes it can be a little overpowering, but without it, I wouldn’t have had as many amazing experiences and opportunities or be where I am today.

What do you love most about your body

I used to never say this but now I would say my legs. They are strong and powerful and give me so much freedom and ability. Legs are beautiful.

Tell us something about yourself we wouldn’t know

I am currently doing my Masters of Occupational Therapy at UBC. I hope to specialize in spinal cord injury and/or stroke rehabilitation when I am graduated. Creating an adapted spin class for individuals of all levels of abilities is my current goal.

What do you love most about this city

I love the fact that I can be in the mountains and on the beach in the same day.

What’s your favourite place in the city

Currently my favourite place is to be on the seawall on the Coal Harbour side overlooking the West and North Van mountains during sunset (or anytime of the day really).

What charity/cause are you passionate about

I am very passionate about adapted fitness classes and ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in group fitness classes. There are many amazing initiatives and organizations currently creating adaptive equipment for exercise and I hope to get involved in the near future.
